Raphael sighed as he sat back, sinking into his chair a bit. He put down his datapad, the unanswered mail fading from view as the screen went dark to conserve power. It was yet another rejection, of possibly the worst kind. No response at all.
He sat alone in the sitting room of the suite he had rented for the night, not really one to have a permanent lodging in his always-on-the-go life as a crusader. In fact, he’d only once had any ownership of a residence during his career as a capsuleer, and that was only during his brief engagement. Taking out his flask and lighting up a cigarette, he activated the large screen in front of him, accessing Gal Net.
It had been just a little over a week since he had joined up with the Knighthood, and he went over the databanks. So far he had achieved numerous victories while taking part in fleet exercises, as well as a few definite defeats; and all of it, it seemed, was for nothing. His victories gained him nothing, his defeats cost him both crew and ISK. He was beginning to wonder again why he had rejoined the crusade. Upon remembering, he glanced back to datapad, screen still dark, blank. Again, he wondered why.
