Letters to Gabriel III

Dear Gabriel,

I bet you though I had forgotten you, old friend. How’s the business? I haven’t really checked up on it in a while. I’m sure it’s doing great under your expert care. I left it in your hands for a reason, after all.

Things have gotten rather frustrating here. I’m still in the Academy but I’ve been doing a lot of field work in these later parts. I’ve still got about a month left in the Academy and things aren’t going as I’d like. The more political parts of ‘Acquisitions’ is starting to grate on my nerves and the very few of my attempts elsewhere have gotten anywhere, no matter what the effort or cost on my end. I swear to God that if things don’t improve, both in the Academy and back with the Knighthood, I’m going to snap, and I fear it won’t be pretty.

I had some time off today and climbed back into the pod to fly my old Hulk. I needed that. I can’t remember the last time I mined. Months, it must’ve been. Nothing like going back to your roots. I mined for hours, just listening to the sound of the mining lasers. I built up a sizable pile of Kernite doing so. After I had mined out several belts of the ore I stumbled upon a small mining gang; a small Retriever and a Badger Mk II. Having a few hours left and still feeling the need to relax, I helped them out, donating all of the scordite I stripped from the asteroids to the small team. That awful event “Hulkageddon” is coming soon, and hopefully I helped cover any costs they might accrue.

I finished the night with a trip to Mercy’s Keep, as I’ve been doing for the past few weeks. There I ran into Eran Mintor speaking with Charles Raine. Charles, you see, is Shalee’s ex-husband. Yes, apparently she actually made it all the way to the altar with someone, and it was some time ago. I’ve heard rumors that she was still married to him the entire time we had our courtship. Just imagine that, Shalee’s three exes all sitting down and talking together. Charles was pleasurable, but Eran was his usual unpleasant presence.

Send my regards to the rest of the corporation and let them know I haven’t forgotten them. I’ll try to come by and visit the next time I am able. I could definitely use another break soon.

Your brother,
Raphael Saint
